One of the reasons I’m so excited about THE CLEANSING HOUR is because of Aaron’s (@AarontheH) killer screenplay. I would not get behind any project that didn’t start off well on the page, and to say that THE CLEANSING HOUR is a good read is an understatement.
I asked Aaron to give us a little background on how the story came about and this is what he had to say:
“I’ve always been a big fan of the horror genre, and have long been dreaming of a way to reinvent a classic horror sub-genre (in this case, demon possession) by throwing it in a modern context. With my background in/extensive knowledge of reality TV, I figured there had to be a way to combine what I know with what I love. I’m always amazed with how people will believe whatever they watch on TV- but even moreso what they see on the internet. And since that’s where audiences seem to be heading today, and the bar for entertainment is constantly being raised, a wide-broadcast exorcism just felt like an inevitable evolution of where we’re headed. Hell, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised to open up my news feed some day soon and read about how the world’s live exorcism broadcast is about to go live, so I just figured…why not beat ’em to the punch?”
Aaron is a good friend and an exceptionally talented writer. I know that we’ll be working together a great deal in the years to come. And, hopefully, you’ll be seeing a feature-length version of THE CLEANSING HOUR somewhere down the road.
